Have been hearing about this pub for quite some time now so we decided to pay a visit. Located in North Bangaore, Sahakar Nagar, this is quite a fashionable place and quite famous among youngsters and college students. However it didn’t take long to form an entirely different set of opinions. It’s really a chic place with nice music and offers quite a number of lagers. Huge screens to stream cricket and soccer attracts a lot of young people for a quality get together.
We ordered beer on tap and the only options available were Budweiser, Kingfisher Ultra and Kingfisher. We went for a Kingfisher Ultra tower, got served in chilled glasses and everything seemed perfect. We were sitting at the bar counter and noticed a lot of young groups chilling, people who came alone were enjoying novels over a drink, seemed like a perfect gate-away.
First sip down, the froth level went below the brim of the glass and all the amazing feelings went ‘poof’ with two observations.
Stained Glass – I thought only my glass was stained and asked the bar man to change it, he changed it promptly only to bring me another stained glass. I looked around and it took me a while in the low light to figure out that almost everyone had a stained glass which clearly suggests they have amazing hygiene and cleaning protocols.
Un-Beer-able Beer – As said we ordered Kingfisher Ultra on tap which seemed more like water than beer. The beer was diluted to such an extent that no beer lover can call it Beer even if they are at the seventh level of being high. I know in this country a lot of pubs do prefer diluting beers to accommodate huge gatherings on special occasions, but this was a regular weekday evening not even a weekend. Such chicanery really sets you off.
I won’t go into the food as that was a whole different ball game.
Watsons did disappoint and one thing is for sure.. I won’t be back.
